All I need to do now is add the ropelight highlights along the perimeter and find a better place for the bbq. Pictures of the deck during construction.

Oh yeah, I built the fire pit as well.

span looks a bit far, and you should have staggered the joints on the side part.

Looks pretty good. Seems to fit the yard nice.

Yeah, at the start everyone was worried that it was going to overpower the yard and kept saying that I was making it too big, but I know what I'm talking about and it doesn't seem too large at all.

In my opinion, a deck should be big anyway. I hate the small ones.

Yeah, it's pointless to make one if it's small. Ours is big enough to easily fit the large patio set and the bbq and still have a lot of extra room. It ends up being 12'x20' with a 5'-6"x10'-6" wrap-around the side.

Indeed I did. There was always someone disagreeing with my ideas saying that it wouldn't work or look good, but I did it anyways and they realized that it looked great. All of them were females. I believe now that females cannot understand what something is going to look like until it is actually completed.

looks good,

you need to take out on of the bottom bricks in your fireplace thought, for air flow.

I missed this post before. I was going to stagger the joints at first, but then I figured that it'd end up looking even more odd and there was already an existing wooden porch at the side door that ...

Well, I had a bit of a problem with the firepit. It's 3 blocks high with the first block buried 6 1/2" into the ground, so when I had the blocks spaced there ...

I added the ropelights around the perimeter this evening so that in the pitch black night no one will trip on the step up to the deck and get severe wood burn. The camera has difficulty picking up the light in the dark, but they turned out pretty good.
