A few weeks ago I started a batch of various vodka infusions. Each one takes anywhere from a week to over a month to fully infuse. You simply add whatever ingredients that you want to a jar full of vodka, then put it in a cool, dark place and shake it every second day until it's ready. Then, you filter it and it's done.

First batch at the start of the infusing:

Chocolate Almond:

Lemon-Lime:

Espresso:

Green Apple:

Cinnamon:

Plum:

Pear:

Chocolate Mint:

First batch after being infused and filtered:

Chocolate Almond:
Tastes more like a sweet almond liqueur than it does vodka. Quite nice and easy to drink straight.

Lemon-Lime:
Smells like lemon cleaning agent and tastes like vodka with concentrated artificial lemon flavouring added. Not bad to drink straight since the vodka doesn't have much burn, but not that great either.

Espresso:
Smells strongly of coffee but tastes bad. It tastes the same as if you added cold, bitter coffee to vodka. Undrinkable straight but mixes very, very nicely with Baileys or Carolans.

Green Apple:
A fair amount of the vodka burn is gone and the green apple flavour is noticeable but not too strong. Tastes good straight and is better than other apple vodkas that I've bought.

Cinnamon:
I've heard that cinnamon vodka is extremely good but this stuff is terrible. It smells nicely of cinnamon but it has a gross bitter flavour. It's most likely because I used cinnamon powder rather than cinnamon sticks.

Plum:
Tastes sort of like a very timid moonshine but with a strong plum aftertaste that is very easy to drink straight. Not too bad at all.

Pear:
This shit is deadly. It tastes absolutely nothing like vodka with no detectable burn and has a nice, slight pear flavour. It tastes like it is some sort of mix with a tony amount of vodka added, yet in reality it's 100% vodka, so this stuff could fuck you up bad. By far the most successful so far.

Chocolate Mint:
Much of the vodka flavour is gone and it tastes chocolatey with a slight mint flavour. Tastes sort of "muddy" though and not that crisp or clear. Not the best.

My next batch will consist of these vodka infusions:
Bacon
Pineapple
Coconut
Orange
Caramel
Honey
Strawberry
Watermelon

In the rest of the original post I wrote a brief description as to how each one tasted, but for some reason the thread only shows a preview of my post. If you click 'quote' the rest should show up.

Pear was also by far the best. It is deadly. No vodka burn whatsoever, not even a vodka flavour. It tastes like some sort of mix with some alcohol added to it, so you can fill up a glass full of it and just drink it like juice, yet it's still 100% vodka!

What type of vodka did you use?

the infusions ive done ive used a 96% vodka, called Rectified Spiritus, its a polish vodka, very different than everclear which isnt a vodka.
Than just mix it down to a suitable level for drinking once the soaking is done.

From Vassago:

I used Absolut vodka, but there is a very cheap ukrainian vodka called Khortytsa that has no burn and very little flavour that would probably work very well with the infusions that don't have enough flavour to get rid of the burn.

You should try this one too

I'll have to sample that next to Khortytsa and compare. I "think" that I've seen that one in our local liquor store.
